The pipes and drums of the South African Irish Regiment made their debut on the esplanade at Edinburgh Castle in 2005. And we’ve been invited back, to perform in the world famous tattoo’s Diamond Jubilee year! The 2010 Edinburgh Military Tattoo runs from the 6th to 28th August and promises to be another awe-inspiring spectacle that gathers participants and audiences from all around the world.

The majority of the current band is set to take part in what must surely be a highlight on the resumé of any military musician. Additional players will be hand picked and invited to join the contingent when it wings its way to Scotland at the end of July next year.

Of course, the major challenge will be raising the funds necessary for a successful tour and a steering committee has already been established. Watch this space for news on events and concerts the band will be hosting in order to fill that piggy bank!
